How to get a PRC ID (Professional Identification Card)

The PRC ID is the licence card for regulated jobs like nurse, teacher, engineer, accountant and midwife. It proves you passed the board exam and are allowed to work in that job.

The three ways to get it

Online

This is only partly online. You apply and pay online, but you still have to go to a PRC office in person for biometrics and to get the plastic card.

The appointment slot is the hard part - slots open in batches and get taken fast. The ePIC digital card in the eGovPH app is a valid copy of your licence for government and private transactions, but keep the plastic card because some offices still ask for it.

Go to online.prc.gov.ph (LERIS) and make an account, or log in if you have one.
Fill in your profile and upload your 2x2 photo. Make sure the name matches your PRC record.
Choose Select Transaction, then Renewal (or Initial Registration if this is your first card).
Pick the PRC office or service centre you want, then pick a date and time that is open.
Choose how to pay and pay the fee online (bank, e-wallet, or over the counter at a payment centre).
Go back to Existing Transactions and print your Application for Professional Identification Card.
Go to the PRC office on your appointment date with the printed form, a valid ID, and your CPD papers.
They take your photo, fingerprints and signature there, then release the card.
You can also get a free digital copy (ePIC) later inside the eGovPH app under Mobile ID.

Walk-in

Partly

Some PRC regional offices and service centres run special caravans or off-site renewal events. Those still need a booking.

Do not pay fixers outside PRC offices.

You still need a LERIS appointment first. PRC does not accept pure walk-ins for renewal.
Make the LERIS account, book the slot and pay before you go.
Arrive early on your appointment date. Same-day release is easier if you are in the first batch.
Bring the printed application form, your valid ID, your old PRC ID, and your CPD certificates.
Submit at the window, then go to the photo and fingerprint counter.
Wait for your name to be called at the releasing counter and sign for the card.

Representative

Yes

PRC's own page says it plainly. A representative filing for you or claiming your ID must show a Special Power of Attorney plus a valid ID of both you and the representative.

There is a shortcut: if your representative is a PRC-registered professional, they only need an Authorization Letter plus their own professional ID. Warning - a representative cannot do your biometrics. If PRC needs a new photo, fingerprints or signature, you have to appear yourself.

Prepare a Special Power of Attorney (SPA) naming your representative.
Give your representative a photocopy of your valid ID and their own valid ID.
Give them your printed application form and proof of payment.
The representative files the application or claims the card at the PRC office and shows both IDs plus the SPA.

What to bring

LERIS account at online.prc.gov.ph (free to make)
Your PRC licence number and date of birth as PRC has them
Digital 2x2 photo: white background, collared shirt or blouse, no eyeglasses, taken recently
One valid government ID with the same name as your PRC record
Printed Application for Professional Identification Card (you print it from LERIS after paying)
Proof of payment or the official receipt
CPD certificates showing your earned credit units, or a signed CPD undertaking (PRC accepts the undertaking until 31 December 2026)
Old PRC ID card, if you still have it (for renewal)
Certificate of good standing from your accredited professional organization, only for some professions: architects, engineers, customs brokers, librarians, psychologists, real estate, interior designers, agriculturists, guidance counsellors, environmental planners, landscape architects, respiratory therapists and a few more
Dual citizens: original and photocopy of your Oath of Allegiance, or a current Philippine passport, or an Identification Certificate saying you are a Filipino citizen

The details

Who can apply

You can apply if you passed a PRC board exam, or if PRC registered you without an exam. New passers get their first card.

Licensed workers renew it before it expires. Dual citizens and former Filipino citizens can also renew, but they must bring extra papers.

Cost

First time (initial registration): about PHP 1,050 for most 4-year-course professions. That is PHP 600 registration fee plus PHP 450 for the card.

Some professions pay a different amount. Renewal: PHP 450 for 3 years (PHP 150 per year).

This PHP 450 is confirmed on PRC's own fee notice posted 1 July 2026. Late renewal: a PHP 30 surcharge is charged if you renew more than 20 days after your birth month.

If your card lapsed for more than one 3-year cycle, PRC can also make you pay the back years. There is no official rush fee.

Lost or damaged card replacement fee:. On top of the PRC fee you also pay the LERIS payment channel's own service charge (bank, e-wallet or payment centre).

How long it takes

Most PRC offices now print and release the new card on the same day as your appointment, often in 1 to 3 hours. Busy offices and some professions can take longer.

How long it lasts

3 years. It expires on your birthday.

A bill to make it 5 years passed the House of Representatives on 21 May 2026, but it is not a law yet, so 3 years is still the rule as of 31 July 2026.

Tips

Renew during your birth month or earlier. If you renew more than 20 days after your birth month you pay a surcharge, and if you let it lapse for years you may have to pay the back years too.
Your name and birth date in LERIS must match your PRC record exactly. One wrong letter is the most common reason an application gets rejected at the window.
If you have no CPD units yet, you can still renew. Just sign the CPD undertaking. PRC accepts it until 31 December 2026.
Book your slot early in the morning. Same-day release usually only happens for people in the first batches.
Get the free ePIC digital card in the eGovPH app as a backup, but do not throw away the plastic card.
